Dr. Pergolizzi has extensive academic, clinical, and business achievements related to his lifelong interest in advancing medical science and the practice of modern global healthcare. He has gained a strong reputation as an experienced, results-oriented C-level leader with a particular focus on new companies. He has held various C-level positions in private and public companies. He is able to leverage his significant medical expertise, regulatory experience, and business skills to build a strong track record of success in many fields in the healthcare industry.

Dr. Pergolizzi is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of NEMA Research, Inc., a specialty CRO, and Native Cardio, a cardiovascular device company.
Prior, Dr. Pergolizzi co-founded as a former invited subcommittee member of the FDA Safe Use Initiative, an SGE VAH Grant Reviewer, a section Chairman of PAINWEEK, and was a Consultant to Global Pain Initiative’s Board of Directors. He also serves as a consultant to the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, and the US Food and Drug Administration.
Dr. Pergolizzi holds a B.S. in chemistry, with an emphasis on physical chemistry, from St. John’s University and an M.D. with high honors from Ross University School of Medicine. Dr. Pergolizzi completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Georgetown University School of Medicine and a Clinical Research Fellowship in the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Pergolizzi graduated class valedictorian and summa cum laude from the University of Miami Herbert’s Health Executive M.B.A. program (HEMBA) in Health Management and Policy along with Six Sigma Champion Belt Certificate of Achievement. Dr. Pergolizzi has published over 300 peer-reviewed medical articles and is frequently invited to share his presentations at scientific conferences around the world. Dr. Pergolizzi actively pursues new academic challenges as well as business and medical interests.
